So what is the rule... six months and you are dropped completely off the list?
Or just dropped lower in the rankings so many spots?

I try to keep the list to active pullers. I say 3 months with out competing and your off the list. There are so many events in the northeast to attend. If you want to be ranked you should beable to attend at least one in 3 months.

I think 3 months of inactivity is way too little to be dropped from the rankings.
Yes, we need to consider if ranked pullers are active but on the other hand, we need to consider that someone is not likely to lose much strength in three months (and lower ranked pullers aren't likely to make enough gains in three months to beat the upper-ranked pullers).
You could argue that even a 6-month layoff wouldn't change the actual strength levels on the table, but....

Good point's Kurt, I can understand that but I dont know how fair it is to those who compete consitantly who dont get ranked because a few people ahead of them show up once or twice a year. What would be a more fair evaluation?

fair isn't when you want that guys spot...........show up where he is and take it from him. don't drop someone because another guy goes bezerk and pulls every tournament on the east coast and the higher ranked guy pulls twice a year........that is still active, so the one doing the chasing just has to be patient and wait.......you figure in a group that understands the whoes of tendon and joint strengthening and learning technique would know some about patience. I know it sucks when you wanna shot, but as kurt said, how much are you gonna gain in 2-3 months ?..................wait for your shot and be ready then........plus, if you are "READY" arter 3 months then you must be be able to blow em out after 6 months of training...........right? as long as the guy is a yearly regular on the tournament scene........I say leave it be...JMO

The rule I use for the In the Hook rankings is that pullers need to have competed at least once in the past 12 months. I think if someone goes more than a year without pulling, it can be said he is currently more out of the sport than in it. Rankings should try to reflect who the best pullers are, not who the most active ones are. Many pullers at least occasionally go more than three months without competing -- they are still actively training but perhaps just focusing on a few particular events. It would also be very difficult to maintain the rankings using a 3 month rule as you'd always need to be monitoring various pullers' activity level and taking them off and then putting them back on again. If someone really wants someone's spot, the best way to proceed (in my opinion) is to get a supermatch arranged with them. Pullers who compete "less" often will usually come out if the conditions are right.
